Kids have tons of energy and sometimes it can be tough keeping up with them with different
activities they will enjoy. Whether it’s a holiday, a weekend, or even after
school, there are great
activities to do with your kids that will keep their interest and yours as well. Instead of just watching TV, going on the computer, or playing games on your smart phone here are
8 Awesome Activities to Do with Kids of all ages…
1. Put on a Show…
This is a great
activity to do with your kids where you can include friends, neighbors, and other family members as well. Everyone has a special talent so why not put on a show with singers, dancers, actors, magicians, and any other talents your kids would love to include. Put on silly outfits and hats, role play, and even have the audience guess at what animal or movie star you’re trying to be!
2. Teach them Something New…
If mom or dad have a special craft or talent what better activity to teach the kids so they can share and enjoy it too. Maybe mom loves to
scrapbook or crochet and perhaps dad knows how to play guitar or loves to cook, these would be wonderful
activities to do with the kids so they can pass them down to generations of your family and remember that great grandma or great grandpa was the one who showed everyone how.
3. Go on a Scavenger Hunt…
Put together two teams or more for a fun
scavenger hunt that
kid of all ages will enjoy. Make a list of silly things to find like a green fire hydrant or a girl with purple hair! You can also have your kids make their own list or help add things to the list mom and dad made. Take pictures of the things on your scavenger hunt so you will always remember the fun you had and that this is an
activity to do with your kids again and again!
4. Re-purpose Something Old…
This is a great
activity to do with the kids that will teach them about recycling, reusing, and re-purposing in a fun way. Don’t just throw out those old socks, wash them and make sock puppets! You can also show them how to re-purpose old furniture, use odd items to
create something unexpected, or how to turn empty jars into pretty vases.
5. Bake a Unique Masterpiece…
Kids feel like their parents are always telling them what to eat and what not to eat, so why not create an
activity to do with your kids that will let them go wild in the kitchen! Tell your kids to go in the kitchen and pick eight fun food items like marshmallows, cookie dough, jelly beans,
chocolate chips, peanut butter, and whatever else they can get their hands on and mix it all together for a fun food night they will never forget!
6. Bicycle Obstacle Course…
Take your
kids to the park or maybe an empty school parking lot to set up this fun
activity they will want to invite their friends to. Use orange cones or boxes and homemade traffic signs for the course and make little ribbons or awards to show them what a
great job they did through the obstacles. Always remember, when putting together
activities to do with your kids that include things like going to the park, using tools or sharp objects, and cooking in the kitchen, to teach your kids about parental supervision.
7. Write a Book Together…
Kids have amazing imaginations and can create wild stories like cowboys in space, dinosaurs on mars, or even a cereal eating monster. Take their wonderful imaginations and turn it into an amazing
activity to do with kids by writing a
book together and even drawing pictures to go along with the silly story.
8. Volunteer…
This will be the most rewarding
activity you do with your kids, not only will you be spending this time helping others but you will also be showing your
kids a selfless act of lending a hand. Whether you are
volunteering at a nursing home, a park, an animal shelter, or visiting with a neighbor who
lives alone, your child will see how happy this
activity makes others and you will both walk away with pride.
